Top Michigan Democrats Protest Right To Work As It Cuts Into Their Pay, Err Worker's Pay

Michigan's biggest Democrats must really be afaid the union donations are going dry up if tens of thousands of forced union members stop paying their dues, while keeping their jobs

After meeting with Gov. Rick Snyder on Monday, a group of senior Democrats called on him to either veto Michigan's controversial right-to-work measure if passed by the Legislature or to at least put the vote off to allow more discussion.

Sen. Carl Levin, Reps. John Dingell, John Conyers, Sander Levin, Gary Peters, Hansen Clark and Dave Curson and Rep.-elect Dan Kildee held a press conference after their hour-and-a-half meeting with the Republican governor and said the meeting at Cadillac Place was "blunt."

The Democrats are sharply critical of the right-to-work proposal that would allow union members to opt out of paying dues.

  1. Right-to-Work is really Pro-Choice – employees get to choose which, if any, union they want to represent them. Liberals are for the choice to kill your unborn child but against allowing to choose your union?
